WMIX HD [LR2 Upscaled > 720p]

This WMIX LR2 Theme

has been modified to suit a 720p version of Lunatic Rave 2, while focusing on preserving image quality, some textures were replaced POST to achieve this. Pushing it further to 1080p required a complete re-work, outside of preservation scope when it already looks nice as WIMX  does in 720p. It remains one of those classic underground LunaticRave2 themes that feels rooted in the late 2000s era of BMS culture. The style leans heavily into  futuristic club aesthetics with dark visuals, sharp neon accents, metallic UI elements and dense information displays designed for serious players rather than casual presentation.

Compared to cleaner modern skins, WIMX has that distinctly ‘power user’ LR2 feel. Everything is built around speed, visibility, and atmosphere. Song select screens tend to feel busy in a deliberate way, with layered panels, glowing highlights, animated gauges, and arcade-inspired typography. It gives the impression of a custom IIDX operator menu mixed with an old Windows multimedia interface.

A lot of veteran LR2 users remember themes like WIMX because they captured a period where the BMS scene was deeply experimental with presentation. Skin authors were trying to push LunaticRave2 far beyond its original look, often creating interfaces that felt completely detached from the base game. WIMX fits into that lineage nicely. It feels technical, slightly chaotic, and very committed to the aesthetic of underground rhythm gaming culture.

There is surprisingly little preserved documentation about the theme itself today, which is pretty common for older LR2 skins. Many circulated through personal blogs, uploader archives, IRC communities, or Japanese BMS forums that disappeared years ago.

As always, BMSworld aims to preserve and present this in an approachable fashion.
